Cornerstone Church
Cornerstone Chapel retained Merritt to construct a lodge-like modern 110,000-square-foot church from the ground up to accommodate a rapidly growing congregation in Leesburg, VA. The $32 million project included:
- First floor: 2,000-seat main sanctuary with stadium-style seating and A/V production rooms under raised seating levels; overflow/multipurpose chapel; separate rooms for children in grades K-1 and preschool; nursery for infants; a room for children with special needs; and an open atrium lobby with 45’ clear height ceilings and custom-built reception desks.
- Second floor: conference room; administrative offices; three separate 200 to 250-seat auditoriums for high schoolers, middle schoolers, and children in grades 2-5; and a café and fellowship lounge with indoor/outdoor fireplace.
- A/V production rooms under raised seating levels in main sanctuary, featuring front-of- house sound booths to prevent disruption from audio controls, website broadcasting, and production transitions.
- Restrooms and other utility rooms under the raked seating levels to maximize usable space.
- 20-acre site development to accommodate 800 parking spaces, a bio-retention area and a stormwater retention pond.
